Maldon salt has a long history, with traditional salt production methods being passed down for over 200 years. The Maldon Crystal Salt Company continues to produce salt in the Essex region of eastern England. Seawater with a high salt concentration is pumped up, filtered, and then boiled in a flat pot for 15 to 16 hours. Small pyramid-shaped crystals settle to the bottom of the pot, and after most of the water has evaporated, the crystals are collected in the center of the pot with a special rake. After that, it goes through a drying process, resulting in highly pure, transparent, empty sea salt. It is truly a masterpiece of craftsmanship and is also called a work of salt art. Made only from seawater, it has a mild flavor, a strong aftertaste, and a crunchy texture.Although it is certainly more expensive than regular salt, it is definitely worth the price.
